خطر قادم في عام 2020 يهدد صنّاع الدراجات النارية، وذلك بسبب قوانين الاحتراق وانبعاث الغازات في الاتحاد الأوروبي.
في عام 1999 بدأت أوروبا بتنفيذ عملية يورو 1، وكانت يورو 2 في عام 2003 فيما كانت يورو 3 في عام 2006، وكان الحل بأن يتم استخدام المحول الحفاز (catalytic converter) من قبل الصناع، استمرت هذه المرحلة عشر سنوات تخللها غض النظر نوعاََ ما عن تطبيق تلك الانظمة بشكل صارم، ومن ثم في عام 2017 تم تطبيق يورو 4 بشكل صارم يرغم الصناع بخفض الانبعاثات المتفق عليها للنصف وذلك للعشرين ألف كيلومتر الأولي من عمر الدراجة إلى جانب تركيب أنظمة إلكترونية متطورة على دواسة الوقود تشمل نظام القيادة والتحكم. لذا تلقى العديد من صناع الدراجات النارية صفعة غير متوقعة وخصوصاً من كانوا يعتقدون بأن هذا الأمر مجرد أقاويل.
وقتها كان ذلك يمثل حكماً بالاعدام على دراجات كثيرة من ضمنها كمثال دراجة الهايبوزا من سوزوكي (Suzuki Hypoza) التي منعت من دخول دول الاتحاد الاوربي.
سارع الصناع اليابانيون وغيرهم في محاولة تدارك هذا الكابوس المرير، حيث توقفت شركة هوندا Honda على سبيل مثال عن بيع بعض دراجاتها من السوق الأوروبية وقامت بتعديل جذري على القولد ونق (Gold Wing) ليتم قبولها مع هذه اللوائح الجديدة. وتبعتها شركتي ياماها Yamaha وسوزوكي Suzuki بنفس المشاكل.
حالياََ التهديد الأكبر هو يورو 5 القادم في عام 2020 وتنص الانظمة فيه علي خفض الانبعاثات للنصف مجدداََ وتركيب نظام معقد يضمن التماشي مع تلك القراءات الجديدة وبدون تحديد أي كيلومترات ليشمل هذا القرار عمر الدراجة الاستهلاكي.
الصناع حالياََ في سباق تكنولوجي لتطبيق هذا القانون الصعب وحتماََ ستختفي بعض الموديلات من قوائم العروض في عام 2020.
اذا لم تنجح بعروض دراجة مكلفة بالصناعة في دول الاتحاد الاوربي فأنت على موعد مع الإفلاس. أعتقد أن كوازاكي Kawasaki هو المصنع الوحيد من خارج الاتحاد الاوربي الجاهز لعام 2020 بكامل اسطوله.
